Tips & Information

 1) Date & Venue

International Book Fair 2018 will be held from 27 April – 6 May at PWTC.  KLIBF 2018 is the 37th International Book Fair.

 

 2) Operation Hours

It is a 10 days event from 10.00am until 7.00pm (Monday – Thursday), meanwhile 10.00am until 9.00pm (Friday – Sunday & Public Holidays).

 

 3) Parking

Hentian Putra parking lot is temporarily closed for construction work.  However, you may park your car at lower ground car park PWTC (waze:) car park at Dewan Tun Razak 2 (waze) and Sunway Putra (waze) car park.

 

 4) Public Transport

In order to avoid traffic congestion, you are advised to use public transport to PWTC.

STAR LRT line: Stop at PWTC station. The LRT station’s bridge and PWTC is within walking distance.

Putra Line: Stop at Masjid Jamek Station. Then change line to STAR LRT heading to PWTC Station.

Komuter Line: Stop at the PUTRA station.  The PUTRA station and PWTC is within walking distance.

KL Monorail Line: Stop at Titiwangsa station. Then change line to STAR LRT heading to PWTC Station.

Grab/Uber: Straight to PWTC.

Taxi: Taxi station is located in front of Seri Pacific Hotel.

 

 5) Volunteers (Book Ambassador)

The volunteers are known as Book Ambassadors.  They can be spotted wearing t-shirt and ‘Book Ambassador’ tag. When help is needed, you may refer to Book Ambassador who will be at each level of the exhibition hall.  Book Ambassador was initiated 11 years ago in 2007, to fascinate the book fair.  Among roles of Book Ambassador are:

  • To be the front liner to welcome the visitors of KLIBF.
  •  The Book Ambassador will meet up any group, especially school students coming in a group.  They need to brief the visitors on KLIBF including the exhibition halls.
  • The Book Ambassadors will attend to any inquiries on exhibition halls, on-going activities or facilities provided at PWTC.
  • The Book Ambassadors will assist visitors at each level to mitigate congestion, especially during weekends.
  • The Book Ambassador will assist, when needed, to those in need such as elderly, children and the disable, if there are problems.
  • The Book Ambassador will usher the guest of honour when required.
  • And other responsibilities that will be communicated from time to time.

 

6) Safety

 Safety and medical officers will be at PWTC throughout the event.  You may lodge report on any problems to the police officer on-duty at the registration counter, whereas the medical officer will be at the medical room at level 3 throughout the 10 days event.

 

7) School Registration

For teachers that organising school trip to the book fair, they may direct to the registration counter located near the main stage to register their school and to receive a certificate from the National Book Council of Malaysia.

 

 

8) Stage Activities

There are two stage activities available this year;

  1. Main stage at the PUTRA foyer
  2. Relax & Reading (R&B) area at level 4

Throughout the 10 days, the main stage and R&B area will be filled with exciting activities and slots.  You may check the event schedule on the website or in the information board near the main stage.

 

9) Exhibition Room

 This year, the entire exhibition hall and exhibition rooms (from level 2 to level 4) have been allocated to accommodate 750 booths.

 

10) ATM facilities

There is a Maybank ATM and Bank Rakyat ATM facilities located at the PUTRA foyer near to Poslaju Office.  CIMB Bank branch is also located on the same floor.

 

11) Friday Payers

Friday prayers will take place at Surau PWTC located at Level 3. You can use special passage to the surau which is located next to CIMB Bank.

 

12) B.AC.A. World

BACA World (Buzz. Apps. Content. Access) is a digital lifestyle showcase which is fully managed by MABOPA.  The 3 days (27-29 April) exhibition will be held at Dewan Merdeka, PWTC.

 

13) KLTCC event

 The Kuala Lumpur Copyright Trade Centre Exhibition (KLTCC) is the publishers’ networking event to trade the copyright of publications which attracts participations mostly from Southeast Asia, China and the Middle East.  The exhibition will also take place at the PWTC during the book fair.

 

14) Food and Beverage (F&B)

There are four (4) dining venues options during the book fair;

 

  • PWTC Kiosk: Located at the exterior foyer of the Exhibition Hall 3 and 4. The dining area is located near to the kiosk. The F&B prices are reasonable. 
  • Riverside Restaurant, PWTC: Located in front of Ariani Boutique, PUTRA Ground. Prices reflect the ‘exclusive’ atmosphere.
  • Medan Selera Putra Laut, PWTC: Located next to the Seri Pacific Hotel and PWTC motorcycle parking area. There are varieties of stalls selling delicious F&B at reasonable price.
  • Sunway Putra Mall: Located opposite of PWTC building which is linked by the skyway bridge.  Among the restaurants are Absolute Thai, Ah Cheng Laksa, Ayam Penyet Express, Bakar Station, Big Melt Grilled Cheese Café, Boat Noodle, DC Comics Superheroes Café, Dubuyo, Eat & Meet, Kampong Kravers, Kaw Kaw Burger, Kebab Turki Baba Rafi, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Nando's, Onde-Onde, Pappa Rich, Sarawak Bowl, Secret Recipe, Seoul Garden, Sepiring, Shaaz Nasi Kandar, Simple Life Vegetarian, SS2 Goreng Pisang, Subway, Sushi King, Teh Tarik Place, The Chicken Rice Shop, The Manhattan Fish Market, etc.

 

 15) Tips for visitors

  • You are encouraged to bring a bottle of water if you are intended to be at the book fair for a long duration as the cold temperature in PWTC may dehydrate you.
  • Wear suitable shoe as the exhibition area begins from Level 2 to level 5. The use of inappropriate shoe may cause you pain/sprained foot due to standing or sitting for too long.
  • If you are buying a big bulk of books, do bring along a suitable wheeled bag/ book trolley to accommodate them.
  • Beware of pick pockets! Take care of your belongings.  Keep your handphone and wallet safe.
  • Take care of your children. Normally, KLIBF receives a high volume of visitors during weekends. You are advised to watch out your children at all times.
